Research Support

This group supports the work of researchers who are studying various aspects of childhood obesity. It also provides consultation to would-be funders and investigators as to the scientific merits of proposals for new research.

The mission of the Research Support Working Group (RSWG) is to support the research endeavors of CLOCC members and organizations. This will be accomplished in many ways. The RWG is the forum for research information exchange and networking in CLOCC. The RSWG is developing and maintaining a library of measures of diet and exercise that can be used by researchers in varied contexts to enhance study comparability. The RSWG will provide a column on current medical literature relating to childhood obesity which will appear in the CLOCC newsletter and on the RSWG web page. The RSWG will provide consultation on developing study proposals, as feasible, and develop a handout that will summarize the proposal evaluation approach that CLOCC uses so our member groups can use this in planning evaluations of their projects. The RSWG will develop and maintain a survey of ongoing research and evaluation projects. The RSWG will develop a process for reviewing and commenting on research proposals that are being developed by members and other WGs. Please join the RSWG mailing list to learn more, exchange information, and become involved.

Co-Chairs: Angela Odoms-Young, PhD and Yolanda Suarez-Balcazar, PhD
