Physical Activity Assessment Tools
CLOCC organizational goals include “improving the science and practice of childhood obesity prevention”. To accomplish this, we want to increase the capacity of our partners to evaluate their obesity prevention work using the best available tools and methods. To achieve this goal we are gathering and evaluating resources our partners might make use of in their obesity prevention efforts. The charts here summarize the current “best practices” of physical activity assessments.
These tables provide an overview of articles evaluating physical assessment tools. CLOCC’s recommendation to measure physical activity in children is through the use of an accelerometer and direct observation. Pedometers should be used and assessed as a motivation tool.
