CLOCC Facilitates Connections Leading to Farmers' Market Technology Improvement Act

On Saturday, July 17, Governor Pat Quinn signed SB 615 and HB 4756 creating the Farmers' Market Technology Improvement Act. This Act creates a fund to support LINK card technology at farmers' markets statewide. The bill creating the Act was drafted by Representative Ford (who sponsored the bill) and the City
of Chicago's Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS). DFSS was able to develop a relationship with Representative Ford and his staff through their common connection to CLOCC, and CLOCC signed on
in support of HB 4756 while it was making its way through the legislative process. Thus, we would like to commend Representative Ford, a member of CLOCC's External Advisory Board, and the Department of
Family and Support Services, who is represented on CLOCC's Executive Committee by Dr. Anthony Raden,
for their work on this important law to increase Illinois families' access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
